Jammu, Nov 30 (IANS) The Jammu and Kashmir government has been given an award by a travel magazine for “Excellence in Regenerating Tourism”.
According to a Jammu and Kashmir government spokesman, Conde Nast Traveller magazine selected the state for award for its efforts in promoting tourism, leading to a record number of domestic and overseas tourists visiting the state this year.
“We want to assure all stakeholders in the tourism industry that Jammu and Kashmir will continue to strive for improving the quality of service offered to the visitors and see that high-end infrastructure is created to increase footfall,” said Minister of State for Tourism & Culture Nasir Aslam Wani, who received the award at a function in New Delhi Thursday.
The Conde Nast Traveller award comes after CNBC Awaaz Travel Awards adjudged the Ladakh region in the state as the best ‘Adventure Tourism Destination’ for 2012.
