Chennai, May 1 (Inditop.com) Two wheeler maker TVS Motor Co started the 2010-11 fiscal on a positive note logging 28 percent sales growth in April.

The company sold 144,689 units as against 113,119 units sold in April 2009.

Domestic two wheeler sales registered 22 percent growth from 102,985 units in April 2009 to 125,471 units in April 2010.

The company sold 2,483 three wheelers last month, up from 706 sold in April 2009. It exported 19,218 units as against 10,134 units during the comparable period last year.

Meanwhile, the company is planning to invest around Rs.150 crore this fiscal for capacity expansion and in research and development.

The fresh investment will go into the company’s existing plants to increase two wheeler capacity from 2.2 million units to around 2.8 million units.

The expansion will be funded through the free cash available with the company.
