Hyderabad, Feb 4 (Inditop.com) Two people have been arrested for the sensational kidnapping and murder of the 10-year-old daughter of a Vijayawada businessman, who died of shock after learning about the killing.
Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy told reporters in Vijayawada that police had taken two people into custody.
Police have registered cases of kidnapping and murders against three people, including Venkata Rao, the key accused. While Srinivasa Rao and Jagdish were arrested, Venkata Rao is believed to be still at large.
Naga Vaishnavi was kidnapped by three people Saturday when she was going to school along with her brother in Vijayawada city. While her brother Sai Tejesh, 14, managed to escape, the attackers killed the car driver, who had resisted them.
The skeletal remains of the girl were found in a boiler in a foundry in Guntur Monday. On learning about his daughter’s murder, Palagani Prabhakara Rao suffered cardiac arrest and died in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police suspect that Venkata Rao, brother of Prabhakara Rao’s first wife Venkataramanamma, got the girl killed over a family feud. He allegedly paid Rs.50 lakh (Rs.5 million) to his cousin and owner of the foundry, Srinivasa Rao, and its worker Jagdish to execute the plan.
Meanwhile, the home minister called on Vaishnavi’s mother Narmada and family members of driver Lakshman Rao. The minister said the culprits would not be spared and a fast track court would be set up for expeditious trial.
She also announced a job for a member of the driver’s family and promised to sanction a house plot.
