Kolkata, Jan 21 (Inditop.com) West Bengal has not submitted proposals to utilise the entire fund allocated to it under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Minister of State for Urban Development Sougata Roy said here Thursday.

“Till now the state government has utilised Rs.1,400 crore. The state has a total allocation of Rs.3,200 crore,” Roy said at a seminar organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

“For the remaining Rs.1,800 crore, the state government has not been able to submit any project proposal. It needs to utilise this amount by 2012.”

Under the JNNURM, the central government will fund cities for developing urban infrastructure and services. In return, the cities will have to carry out mandated reforms.

Roy said 300 low floor buses given under the JNNURM were plying in Kolkata, which has a total allocation of 1,200 buses. Asansol in Burdwan district has been sanctioned 100.
