New Delhi, Nov 7 (IANS) The two-day 10th World Plumbing Conference will get underway here on Nov 14, the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA), organisers of the event, announced Thursday.
“Being held for the first time in India, the triennial global conference will deliberate on the central theme – Environment, Health, Hygiene – and the role of the plumbing industry,” the IPA said in a statement.
“A major objective of the conference is to attract challenge-driven industry professionals who will offer tangible solutions to the problems relating to sanitation, plumbing, water safety and conservation and skill upliftment,” the statement quoted Sudhakaran Nair, president of the IPA as saying.
India’s construction industry does not implement the plumbing codes and standards which are comparable to world standards in the absence of legal backing, while there is a massive dearth of trained plumbers, Nair said.
“The conference will help us harness the expertise and energies of the world plumbing fraternity for a renewed focus on our efforts to redefine plumbing standards in India,” the IPA president said
