Lucknow, Sep 10 (Inditop.com) At least 13 people were killed after drinking spurious liquor in Saharanpur town of Uttar Pradesh, police said Thursday.
According to police, the deaths were first reported Tuesday. While two people died Tuesday, 10 died late Wednesday and another person died in a hospital Thursday.
“Most of them bought the liquor from Khasauli locality of Deoband. Four wine shops have been sealed in this area. Samples have also been picked up from all the liquor outlets in the district and have been sent for tests,” Amit Chandra, additional superintendent of police, told Inditop by phone.
Nearly a dozen people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals and condition of some of them is reportedly serious.
Meanwhile, the entire police staff of Khasauli police station and the inspector of Deoband police station have been suspended for negligence.
