New Delhi, July 24 (Inditop.com) The Central Bureau of Investigation Friday said it has seized an antique stone sculpture, dating from the ninth century AD and worth about Rs.10 million, in Rajasthan and arrested the man trying to sell it.
A senior CBI official said the sandstone sculpture, weighing 3.5 quintal and having a height of 47.5 inches, is in the form of a shivaling with four images of Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma and Surya in four cardinal directions.
The sculpture, declared a 9th century AD antique by the Archaeological Survey of India, was recovered from a man in Bharatpur (Rajasthan) when he tried to sell it to a decoy customer last month, the official added.
