Guwahati, Aug 6 (Inditop.com) A colonel in the Indian Army is suspected to have been kidnapped from Assam’s main city of Guwahati, police said Thursday.
A police spokesperson said Col. Dayal Kakoty, who was transferred to Tezpur in Assam from Jammu and Kashmir, was on transit in Guwahati when he went missing late Wednesday.
“The army officer came to his mother in Guwahati’s Sarania area when he went missing. According to a witness, he was showed into an auto rickshaw by two youth,” the spokesperson said.
Defence spokesperson Col. R. Kalia told Inditop that army would independently investigate the incident.
“The missing officer belonged to the Mahar Regiment,” he said.
