Kolkata, Dec 14 (Inditop.com) The death toll in Sunday’s bus and truck-trailer collision in West Bengal rose to 23 Monday, with four people succumbing to their injuries since midnight, police said. At least 20 more injured people are in hospital.
While three people died in the Uluberia hospital, another died in the S.S.K.M. hospital in the city, police said. The incident took place at Kulgachia in neighbouring Howrah district.
Several of the injured are still serious, police said.
The mishap occurred on National Highway (NH) 6 Sunday night as the driver of the 10-wheel trailer suddenly changed lanes on the Mahishlekha Bridge and collided with the Gadiara-bound bus from Howrah.
Twelve bodies were recovered from the spot, while seven others died in hospital Sunday night.
The dead included two women and a child, a police officer said.
