London, Jan 29 (Inditop) British police have confirmed that the body of a boy found in a canal this week is that of missing Goan teenager Jonathan Marques.
Marques, 15, went missing Jan 6 on his way to school in his English hometown of Reading, about 70 km from here.
His body was found Monday by police divers scouring the Kennet and Avon canal in the Small Mead area of Reading.
The police said Wednesday the death was not thought to be suspicious but further tests will be carried out to determine the cause.
βThe death is still not thought to be suspicious, and these tests are routine. The post mortem is inconclusive at the moment and the process is continuing,β said Detective Chief Inspector Stan Gilmour.
A number of searches, a prayer service and marches have been held over the past three weeks by police, friends, family and volunteers.
On Tuesday, many people, including Jonathan’s family and school friends, laid flowers at the spot where the body was found.
