Chandigarh, Nov 24 (Inditop.com) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths Tuesday searched the houses of a senior Himachal Pradesh police officer, an official said.

A special team of CBI officials conducted the searches at the houses of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) B.S. Thind after it Monday received a state government complaint that he owned assets disproportionate to his income.

“We had got a state (Himachal Pradesh) complaint against Thind yesterday (Monday) accusing him of possessing disproportionate assets. Following this complaint, we have raided his properties at Sector 11 and at Kansal village here,” CBI Deputy Inspector General Mahesh Aggarwal told IANS.

“Our raid is on and it will continue for a few more hours. Right now I cannot comment anything on the recovery but we are hopeful of seizing certain important papers and documents that we will scrutinise afterwards,” he added.

CBI Superintendent of Police Himachal Pradesh R. Upasak said: “The raid has been conducted in the houses in Chandigarh. His official residence is Shimla which is lying vacant.”

Thind belongs to the same batch of IPS officers as does CBI director Ashwani Kumar.

Thind had accused Kumar for unnecessarily harassing him and filing fake cases against him to settle personal disputes, an official told Inditop.

Thind was also arrested in April this year from Shimla on charges of cheating, conspiracy and intimidation.
