New Delhi, May 5 (Inditop.com) Three child labourers have been rescued from an electrical socket manufacturing unit in west Delhi, an official said Wednesday.
“All the children were in the age group of 8 to 12. They were rescued late Tuesday evening. They hailed from Bihar and were brought here on the pretext of education,” said the official of the Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), the child rights organisation which assisted the police and the labour department in the rescue operation.
“The unit in which the children were found making electrical sockets was running illegally in a residential area. The employer, Sunil Kumar, is absconding,” the official added.
The rescued children have been given release certificates which entitles them to a rehabilitation package of Rs.20,000.
