Agra, Sep 7 (Inditop.com) Family members of an Agra businessman Monday beat up two cops after a post-mortem proved their contention that he had been killed. Police, who had earlier termed it a case of accidental death, are now pressing charges against the attackers.

Sunil Gupta was found lying in critical condition on the outskirts of the city Sunday night and was rushed to hospital by the police. However, he was declared brought dead.

The police in its records mentioned it as an accidental death even though Gupta’s family insisted it was a murder. “We were constantly insisting that it was a murder but the cops were not listening to us,” a relative M.K. Gupta said.

During the post-mortem, conducted Monday, a bullet was found in Gupta’s body. This led to over 50 people chasing and manhandling two constables who were present outside the hospital on duty.

“We tried to convince them that a murder case will be registered yet they attacked us,” Chandra Prakash, one of the attacked constables, told Inditop.

Meanwhile, police have assured action in the case.

“We have lodged a case of murder against unknown people. We are also trying to identify who attacked the constables. Attacking a government official on duty is an offence and no one will be spared,” Superintendent of Police Uday Pratap told Inditop.
