New Delhi, Jan 2 (Inditop.com) Within a year of its formation, Delhi Police’s anti-obscene calls cell received 12,108 complaints and action was taken in 11,625 cases, Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal said Saturday.
“It has been really effective in checking complaints from women being harassed by lewd, objectionable and obscene phone calls, besides SMSes and MMSes. There is no need for the victim to come to a police station and complaints can be registered over the phone, email or SMS,” Dadwal told reporters during the annual press conference of the Delhi Police here.
Delhi Police had last year launched the dedicated 24-hour helpline. Its phone numbers are 1096, 27894455 and 9911135446.
Objectionable SMSes and MMSes along with the senders’ phone number can be forwarded to the mobile number. Complaints can also be sent by e-mail to acp-sit-dl@nic.in.
