Patna, Jan 23 (Inditop.com) Five people were killed when the boat in which they were riding capsized in a Bihar pond, police said Saturday.
The incident took place late Friday in a pond near Sarsai village in Vaishali district, about 40 km from here. Eight people were in the boat to immerse an idol of Hindu goddess Saraswati.
“All the victims were from Sarsai village. Only three people managed to swim and save their lives,” a police officer said.
The district authorities have announced compensation to the victims’ families.
