Patna, Sep 15 (Inditop.com) Four people were arrested with Rs.75,000 in counterfeit currency notes in Bihar, police said Tuesday.

A police officer said two men — Surendra Thakur and Rambabu Bhagat — were nabbed from Beur More in state capital Patna Monday evening with Rs.65,000 in fake notes. Two other people were arrested from Bihar’s Kishanganj district with Rs.10,000 in counterfeit currency.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Patna) Dilnawaz Ahmed said a police team led by him Monday arrested Thakur and his associate, both residents of Motihari.

“Both the arrested men have links with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agent Mohammad Ansari who deals in fake currency in Nepal,” Ahmed said.

“Police are sure that circulation of fake currency notes in Bihar is handiwork of people operating in Nepal,” he added.

According to police, Thakur and Bhagat have confessed to involvement in circulation of fake currency and disclosed that Ansari used to supply such notes to them.

A police officer said fake currency notes were being smuggled to India in large quantities through the India-Nepal border in Bihar.

In view of the increasing cases of recovery of fake notes in the state in the last few months, the Bihar government has decided to tighten security on the open border.
