New Delhi, July 10 (Inditop.com) A man robbed and murdered his 70-year-old grandmother here with the help of an associate to get money to take his girl friend to a hill station. Both men have been arrested, police said Friday.
Parmod Kumar and Fazal Khan were arrested from Mewat in Haryana Thursday after they confessed to killing and robbing Basanti Panwar in her south Delhi residence in East of Kailash June 21, a police officer said.
Punwar’s decomposed body was found two days after she was murdered.
“Parmod was a ruffian and knew that his grandmother lived alone and kept a sizable quantity of gold ornaments and cash with her. He along with Fazal killed her and escaped with the jewellery,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Shalini Singh.
Parmod told the police that he committed the crime as he needed money to take his girlfriend to a hill station.
