New Delhi, July 13 (Inditop.com) A city court Monday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing a witness inside the court premises here six years ago.
Additional Sessions Judge S.K. Gautam held accused Prem Chand guilty of murdering Rajesh Yadav, who was a witness against him and three others in a murder case. Prem Chand, who was on parole then, shot Yadav dead in front of the lock-up room of Tis Hazari courts complex on Nov 28, 2003.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs.50,000 on Prem Chand.
The prosecution argued that Yadav was murdered following a conspiracy hatched by Mahender Pahelwan, Jagdish Dua, Naresh and Prem Chand — all four accused in the murder case in which Yadav was a witness. Yadav, who was also an undertrial in a criminal case, had allegedly refused to change the statement he had given in the court.
The three others were acquitted for want of sufficient evidence.
