New Delhi, Oct 21 (Inditop.com) Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday ordered an inquiry into the train collision in Mathura that killed at least 10 people and announced a compensation of Rs.500,000 for the families of the deceased.
“I have ordered to set up a high level committee to inquire about the incident. The committee will look into the matter and give me reports. The railways will also give Rs.5 lakh compensation to the families of those deceased,” Banerjee said in Kolkata.
The accident occurred at about 5 a.m. when the Goa Express rammed into the stationary Mewar Express from behind at an outer signal, about 55 km from here. Both the trains were headed for Delhi.
While at least 10 people have been killed and over a dozen injured, about 50 people are believed to be still trapped in a mangled carriage of the Mewar Express, an official told Inditop.
