Ahmedabad, Feb 1 (Inditop.com) A petrol pump cashier was looted and shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants in Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency of Maninagar here Monday.

Bipin Thakkar was on his way from the petrol pump where he worked to the nearby State Bank of India branch to deposit the cash proceeds when two motorcycle-borne assailants shot at him, snatched the bag containing Rs.3.5 lakh and sped away. Thakkar died on the spot.

“The cashier was going on his scooter when two motorcycle-borne people obstructed his path. Immediately thereafter, the cashier was shot at and the assailants fled with the bag,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajay Chaudhary said.

The incident took place around 11.30 a.m. near Khokhra circle in Maninagar. Modi represents the constituency in the Vidhan Sabha.

Gujarat Congress spokesperson Arjun Modvadia said it was one more indicator of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

“Chief minister Modi is very fond of pontificating on law and order issues. He could do well by reflecting on the state of such affairs in his own state and constituency,” Modvadia said.
