Ranchi, July 11 (Inditop.com) At least a dozen people were injured Saturday when police baton charged a group of nearly 40 seekers of government jobs trying to force their way into the state secretariat in this Jharkhand capital, an official said.
Police said the men were protesting under the banner of Uddayan Parvekash Sangh and wanted to meet the agriculture secretary.
The injured have been admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science, where the condition of three protesters is said to be serious.
The agitators were demanding jobs in the state agriculture department.
“We got training for one year and were assured jobs on its completion. Now the state government is shirking its responsibilities,” said Madhukar, one of the agitators.
But the officials maintain that the training was part of a central government sponsored scheme and no job assurances were given.
