New Delhi, Jan 18 (Inditop.com) A 15-year-old girl, who was brought to the national capital on the pretext of marriage and then sold for prostitution, has been rescued from one of the brothels running in central Delhi, police said Monday.

The victim, a resident of 24 Parganas in West Bengal, was rescued from kotha (brothel) number 40 on G.B. Road Sunday. The police acted on the complaint of the victim’s brother and arrested brothel manager Shehnaz. The victim’s brother informed the police about his sister’s whereabouts.

“He informed us that his sister has been forced into prostitution. After rescuing the girl, she said a man brought her to Delhi on the pretext of arranging her marriage with her boyfriend but sold her at the brothel, where a large number of girls are engaged in prostitution,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (central Delhi) Jaspal Singh said.

“One person forced her into prostitution. When she refused, he threatened and forced her to follow his directions. All the prostitution work is done under the supervision of brothel manager Shehnaz, who collects money from the girls,” he added.

He said efforts were on to nab the other accused.
