Hyderabad, Jan 26 (Inditop.com) Eleven people died after drinking moonshine in East Godavari district of coastal Andhra Pradesh Monday and Tuesday, police said.
While seven people died Monday, four succumbed Tuesday. Four were admitted to hospital and the condition of one of them is critical.
The tragedy occurred at Gagulakurru Agraharam of Ambajipeta mandal of East Godavari district.
The victims, most of them farm labourers, were taken ill after they drank Saturday night. The next morning they were admitted to different hospitals.
A police officer said the labourers belonging to Rachapalem and Palagumni villages had consumed liquor at an illegal extension of a licensed liquor shop (called a belt shop) in Gagulakurru Agraharam.
The state government Tuesday ordered a probe into the incident.
