New Delhi, Jan 2 (Inditop.com) Trivial issues like not paying for cigarettes and wives not paying enought attention to their husbands led to murders in the national capital in 2009, Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal said Saturday.

“Most of the murders took place due to sudden provocation. People were murdered over trivial issues like refusal to give a water bottle, non-payment for cigarettes and parking of auto-rickshaws,” Dadwal told reporters here at the annual Delhi Police press conference.

Other such reasons included disputes during a cricket match, removal of construction raw material from the road and public humiliation of individuals. At least 13 people were killed due to drunken quarrels.

Dadwal said 841 people were arrested for murder, of which 792 were first time offenders.
