New Delhi, July 11 (Inditop.com) One of the two absconders accused of murdering a management student here in May has been nabbed, police said Saturday.
“The accused, Arun Raghav (21), was arrested Friday in the murder case of MBA student Anand Tiwari,” a senior police officer said.
Tiwari, a 22-year-old student of the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM), was bludgeoned to death May 25 and his body was found in a drain in the Sanjay Van area of south Delhi.
The main accused, Rahul Chaddha, who allegedly did not like the victim getting close with his former girlfriend, was arrested June 8. During interrogation, Chaddha told police about the involvement of his friends Raghav and Arjun Acharya.
Acharya, who works in the factory of the girl’s father, is still absconding.
“On interrogation, Raghav disclosed that the immediate provocation behind the murder was a study tour to Switzerland where Tiwari was going with the same girl. Raghav was known to Chaddha for the last seven years,” the police officer said.
“On the day of the murder Chaddha told him that he was in love with the girl and Tiwari had also very ‘intimate’ relations with the girl. He asked Raghav’s help in eliminating Tiwari. Earlier also, Chaddha had fought on the issue with Tiwari,” the police added.
The officer further said: “They hatched a conspiracy with Arjun Acharya. As per the plan Acharya invited Tiwari for a drink at a pub in Saket of south Delhi and took him to the jungle of the Qutub Institutional Area where they murdered him using iron rods and stones.
“Since then Raghav was moving from one place to another for hiding himself. He was arrested from near India Gate Friday when he was going to meet someone. We are conducting raids to arrest Acharya,” the police said.
