Ghaziabad, Aug 29 (Inditop.com) A police officer has been booked in Ghaziabad for detaining a man and then taking a bribe for releasing him, an official said Saturday.
The police registered a case against Sub Inspector Afal Singh, former station officer of Vijay Nagar police station, for illegally detaining Rahul Yadav and releasing him only after taking a bribe from his brother, said Circle Officer R.K. Gautam.
An inquiry was ordered after Rahul’s brother Jitendra Yadav lodged a complaint with the Ghaziabad police chief April 12. The probe upheld the allegations against the police officer.
Singh has been charged under section 342 (wrongful confinement) and section 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code and the
Anti-Corruption Act.
