Agra, May 10 (Inditop.com) An employee of an Agra publisher has been identified as the prime accused among the four people arrested for their alleged involvement in leaking the question paper of a B.Ed entrance test last week that was cancelled just hours before it was to start, police said Monday.

“Sonu Verma was working in the packing department of an Agra publishing house. He stole a question paper, hid it in the toilet and when the consignment was being dispatched, he walked out with the paper from the press,” a police officer said.

“More than 500 copies of the paper and some money have been recovered from the four accused who were arrested from Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district,” the officer added.

The officer said the role of the publisher was under investigation.

According to the police, the four men, all residents of Farrukhabad, were arrested Tuesday night from a photostat shop, where they were caught photocopying the question paper.

“We have arrested four people with several copies of the computerised question paper. Several other people have also been detained,” Additional Superintendent of Police A.K. Jain told reporters in Farrukhabad.

The test will now take place June 19. “The decision to conduct the exam has been taken in consultation with the state’s higher education officials,” said G.P Tripathi, registrar of the Lucknow University (LU) that has to conduct the exam.

The university was scheduled to conduct the test for around 100,000 seats in different universities and colleges of the state May 5. Around 700,000 students were to appear in the exam.
