Greater Noida, July 21 (Inditop.com) Three men fled with a transport vehicle of a media house after seriously injuring the driver on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway early Tuesday. The men had requested a lift from the driver.
The police said Shakeel Ahmad, a cab driver engaged with a media house Media Vision situated in sector-16 A of Noida, was returning to the office after dropping off the office staff at their respective residences in Greater Noida when three men sought a lift near Pari Chowk at about 3.30 a.m.
Responding to their request, Ahmed allowed all the three aboard. After going a kilometre, the criminals, who were sitting on the rear seat, attempted to strangle him with a cord. However, he somehow managed to escape and jumped out of the vehicle, sustaining bruises and contusions all over his body.
The three men took the vehicle and fled towards Noida. The driver later lodged a complaint with Kasna police.
“We will soon nab the criminals and recover the Indica,” said Superintendent of Police, Greater Noida Surendra Verma.
Meanwhile, two men on a motorcycle were run over by a truck Tuesday morning on the expressway under Kasna police station of Greater Noida. One was killed on the spot, while the other was severely injured and is battling for his life in hospital.
According to police, Sachin and Sandeep, residents of Bulandshahr, were going to Noida when they were hit by the truck.
Police have registered a case.
