Chandigarh, Aug 4 (Inditop.com) An organisation of Right To Information (RTI) activists Tuesday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged kidnapping of an activist.

According to police records, Kiran Pandey, a RTI activist from a Punjab town, was kidnapped July 12 by some unknown people and was released in an unconscious state after five days of confinement.

H.C. Arora, convenor of ‘RTI Users Association’, said they would approach the court to demand a CBI probe.

“Punjab police are trying to hush up the matter and they have closed the case because of the involvement of influential people in it. We would certainly approach the high court demanding a CBI probe in this case,” he said.

Pandey, the victim, told reporters, “I had clearly told the name of the kidnapper to the police but he has not been arrested till date.” He alleged the kidnapper was a top official of the Ferozepur cantonment board who had kidnapped him as he was “investigating the scams of this board”.
