Lucknow, July 1 (Inditop.com) A rickshaw puller and a police constable became friends at a roadside tavern. But it ended in a bitter quarrel as Manoj lost his rickshaw while constable V.P. Yadav was suspended from his job. Both are now in a police lock-up in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh.

Yadav, posted in Lucknow, went to Firozabad on leave and hired a rickshaw at the bus stand late Tuesday evening.

“He asked me to take him to a wine shop and forced me to drink. After we left from there, he again asked me to stop in front of a beer shop,” Manoj told reporters.

When Manoj returned after buying beer his rickshaw was missing.

Irritated by this, Manoj had a heated argument with Yadav.

“The two started fighting and by the time we reached there, the constable was lying on the ground and the rickshaw puller was sitting on his chest slapping him,” said Sudhir, an eyewitness.

The police were informed and they were taken to the Kotwali police station.

“A case under section 160 (punishment for committing affray) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) has been lodged against both of them,” Superintendent of Police Firozabad Raghuvirlal told IANS.

“We have also received a report and Yadav has been suspended,” spokesperson of Lucknow police A.K. Pathak said.
