Raipur, Nov 9 (Inditop.com) Three people were arrested in Chhattisgarh for misleading 17 workers to supply them to a private contractor outside the state, police said Monday.
The 17 were told that they would be given domestic jobs in Delhi or Mumbai. The workers were, however, unaware that they were being hired by a contractor in Rajasthan, police said.
Acting on a tip off, the police made the arrests when the three accused were taking the 17 tribals from Keshkal locality of Bastar district to Rajasthan, officials here said.
S. David, a police official led the team that arrested the three late Sunday in Bastar region, about 220 km south of capital Raipur.
Police say that dozens of people lure poor tribals by promising them a good career in big Indian cities but rarely pay them or take them to the promised place.
