Raipur, Sep 11 (Inditop.com) Two female elephants were electrocuted in a forest village in Chhattisgarh’s northern Jashpur district, an official said Friday.

The wild jumbos were killed in a field at Shekharpur village Thursday when they came into contact with a live wire, G.L. Tandia, a forest ranger under Jashpur district, 450 km north of Raipur, told Inditop on telephone.

Local officials said that a large number of people thronged the site where the elephants were electrocuted and conducted prayers for the deceased tuskers.
