Ghaziabad, July 22 (Inditop.com) Two police constables were assaulted by a dozen unidentified men and robbed of their rifles, motorcycle, mobile phones and other valuables, district police said Wednesday.

The incident occurred late Tuesday night on the Duhai-Sadarpur Road under Muradnagar police station in Ghaziabad.

Constables Dharam Raj and Sunil posted at Vardhmanpuram police post were patrolling the area when they were stopped by a dozen men, who assaulted the policemen with iron rods and sticks. They also robbed the constables of their mobile phones, motorcycle, rifles and other valuables. The assailants then fled the scene, the police said.

When the constables gained consciousness, they reached the post and informed their seniors about the attack. Raj and Sunil have been admitted to the hospital, police said.

“A case has been registered and we have found the rifles lying abandoned in the green belt near DPS School in Govindpuram,” said Superintendent of Police (Rural) K.K. Asthana.
