Kolkata, Dec 29 (Inditop.com) A woman stabbed her teenaged son to death and surrendered to the police in Kolkata’s southern outskirts, confessing that she was fed up with her husband who was having an extra-marital affair, police said Tuesday.
Anjana Maity, 35, was staying with her 14-year-old son Somnath at Paschim Putiary in the Tollygunge area for the past two years. Her husband Ranjit lived separately with the other woman.
A neighbour Bapi Majumdar said Anjana was mentally upset for the past few months.
“She was staying with her son in the locality for the past two years. Her husband, a courier service agent, was having an affair with another woman. In the morning, Anjana herself told us that she had stabbed her son to death last night (Monday),” said Majumdar.
South 24 Parganas district police superintendent L.N. Meena said Anjana had been arrested.
“Investigation is on. She has confessed to her crime,” Meena told Inditop.
