New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Friday said that no school in the city can deny admission to a child as the government has been expanding school infrastructure under the Right to Education Act.

‘Formal education is to be supplemented with training in skill development, easing the process of getting employed,’ Dikshit said after distributing National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) certificates to 45 students putting up in various homes under the social welfare department.

According to Dikshit, the government has been concentrating on skill development as the world is becoming more and more competitive.

The chief minister invited all such students to celebrate Children’s Day, Nov 14, at her residence. ‘I am going to be their host on Children’s Day,’ she said.

She also appreciated the role of NGO Shoubhakshika, under whose guidance the 45 children attending non-formal classes passed the NIOS exam.

Social Welfare Minister Kiran Walia said: ‘The department of women and child development is running 27 homes for the children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law.’
