Chennai, Sep 30 (IANS) Tamil film writers Suresh and Balakrishnan, popularly known by their pen name ‘Subha’, who have written successful films such as ‘Kana Kandaen’ ‘Ayan’ and ‘Ko’, said their upcoming Suriya-starrer film ‘Maattrraan’ will also address a social issue.
“Although our film (Maattrraan) is the story about conjoined twins, we’ve not deviated from addressing a social issue like we did in our last three films,” Subha said here at an event.
This is the fourth time director K.V. Anand and writers Subha have collaborated.
“Anand always wanted to make films that can make audience socially responsible, hence all our films had something to give back to the audience. In our first film ‘Kana Kandaen’ we addressed the water problem. In ‘Ayan’, we showed the effect of drug trafficking on economy, while in our third film ‘Ko’, we brought forth the rise of youth politics in the country. Likewise, in ‘Maattrraan’ also we’ve addressed a burning social issue”, the duo added.
Actor Suriya plays conjoined twins in ‘Maattrraan’, which is directed by K.V. Anand. The Tamil film is releasing worldwide Oct 12.
“This is my landmark film and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the entire team of the film,” Suriya told reporters.
The film also stars Kajal Agarwal, Sachin Khedekar, Vivek and Tara in lead roles.
Composer Harris Jeyaraj has composed the music, while cinematography and editing is by S. Sounder Rajan and Anthony respectively.
