New Delhi, May 27 (IANS) Rajesh Kumar, who made it big by playing Roshesh in ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, says that the comedy series ‘Mrs. & Mr. Sharma’ is his first solo hero serial in 10 years.
‘After 10 years I got an opportunity to dominate the screen with a solo performance. In my earlier ventures, I was a part of multi-starers. Though it makes me feel nervous, but now is the time when I can show my talent to my audience,’ Rajesh told IANS.
‘As far as Bollywood is concerned, I’m not getting roles that I deserve. I would rather say I have not been offered roles in movies. I’m happy with my screen space. People still remember me as Roshesh of ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, the series that got over four years back,’ he added.
Rajesh has been part of most series that had comedy – ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, ‘Baa Bahu aur Baby’, ‘Comedy Circus’ and latest in his kitty is ‘Mrs. & Mr. Sharma Allahabad wale’.
‘Mrs. & Mr. Sharma Allahabad wale’ depicts the journey of a middle-class couple who move to a big city. Divyanka Tripathi, Vidya of ‘Banoo Main Teri Dulhan’, plays Rajesh’s wife in it.
Talking about his role, Rajesh said: ‘In this show, I am in a complete new role which is very different from the characters I have played earlier. My character is a very idealistic husband, who loves his wife, respects her and gives her enough space. The essence of romance has been portrayed very beautifully.’
The actor doesn’t want to be typecast.
‘I want to prove myself as an actor and I believe comedy gives space to explore individuals dimensions. I don’t believe when people say I have limited myself… I’m not type-cast to a specific genre. My intentions are to prove myself as a complete performer, actor and bring out my true abilities.
