New Delhi, May 4 (Inditop.com) Popular actor Rohit Roy says after Amitabh Bachchan, he is among the best television show hosts in the country.
“I think there’s no better host than me on TV. When I am hosting, I am myself, very comfortable interacting with people and I have a good sense of humour. At least I am among the better hosts. But that list does not include Amitabh Bachchan, because he is god. No one is better than him,” Rohit told Inditop.
Rohit, who will now host Imagine TV’s reality show “Desi Girl”, feels no less than Indian-born Western classical music conductor Zubin Mehta when he hosts a show.
“I hosted ‘Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa’ earlier and I must admit that whenever I get to host a show, I feel like Zubin Mehta. Just like he conducts music, I feel I am in power to conduct the whole show. And I love doing that. Being an anchor is an extension of my personality,” said the actor who is quite regular as host for award functions and corporate events.
Anchoring for “Desi Girl” requires Rohit to be in Chandigarh so that he can visit sets in the Sialba Majri village for the shooting. In the show, eight glamorous women will be seen living in the village coping with tough circumstances there.
Rohit says hosting the show is a “fantastic” experience, but confesses he can never do what all the women are doing to survive there.
“I probably would do this show if the village had been in Paris or Amsterdam. But oh boy, men can’t do all this milking cows, making cow dung cakes. And the ease with which these girls do it, it’s amazing. Men can’t do it at all,” he added.
Rohit made his acting debut with the hit TV show “Swabhimaan” in 1995 and later did shows like “Sarkar” and “Viraasat”. He has also acted in Bollywood movies such as “Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena” and “Plan”.
“I have stopped analyzing my career. It’s been 10 years and my films have just turned out to be flops. A lot of people come and say ‘your film was nice’, ‘you did very well in this film’, but then why doesn’t my work chart flow properly?” he asked.
“But I am still working and I still get work. I don’t think that’s more to do with luck as most people would call it. It’s just because of my talent.”
Rohit was recently seen in Karan Razdan’s “Mittal Vs Mittal” and Jagmohan Mundhra’s “Apartment”. He says he is “more of a director than an actor”.
He has directed “Rice Plate”. The Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah starrer was one of the 10 short films in “Dus Kahaniyaan”.
After “Desi Girl”, he will go back to acting for Sanjay Gupta’s “Alibaug”.
