New Delhi, July 10 (Inditop.com) He might have shot many intimate scenes in his nearly two-decade long career, but Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds says he felt “awkward” and “surprised” when he had to bump into a nude Sandra Bullock for a sequence in his latest movie “The Proposal”.

“Slamming headlong into a nude Sandra Bullock…surprised me. It was surprising the first time it happened and the twentieth (take). What made it awkward wasn’t the slamming into each other naked for the gag. It was the fact that we’re very good friends outside of this. So it was a little bit bizarre,” Reynolds told IANS in an e-mail interview.

The 32-year-old actor also reveals he had pre-conceived notions before filming the sequence with Bullock, 44.

“I was initially thinking, ‘We’re going to have to get liquored up…It’s going to get nasty…What if I throw up on her naked body?’ But we ended up just kind of…I mean, your call-time is at 6 in the morning, so who’s going to drink alcohol then? So we basically showed up and off we went,” he said.

“I’m surprised we remembered to put our clothes on when we walked back to the trailer…it wasn’t that bad.”

The actor, who was voted one of the sexiest men alive by People magazine in 2008, says he was in shape for the peel off.

“I was training for a marathon at the time; so I had my end taken care of. Sandy was the one doing crunches in her hotel room,” he said.

Distributed by Touchstone pictures, the 108-minute romantic comedy has been directed by Anne Fletcher.

Releasing Friday in India, it has received mixed reviews from critics worldwide despite being Bullock’s biggest opening weekend grosser till date and her first No.1 movie at the box office in a decade.

“The Proposal” is the story of a high-powered book editor, Margaret Tate (Bullock), who faces deportation to her native Canada. She persuades her put-upon assistant, Andrew Paxton (Reynolds), to take part in an engagement charade to escape it.

With an impromptu wedding in the works and an immigration official on their tails, the duo reluctantly vow to stick to the plan despite precarious consequences.

Commenting on his role, Reynolds said: “I am the damsel in distress (in the film)…I am the overly sensitive leading lady type. But that’s how I am in real life too.

“I just hope people see it…This is one of those unusual experiences where I think the movie is actually better than the time we had making it.”

Reynolds agreed 2009 is a big year for him in terms of releases with movies like “Adventureland”, “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, “Paper Man” and “The Proposal”.

“You don’t usually plan on them to stack up like this. But, yes, a lot of big releases…For any actor, the two greatest moments, usually, are the moment you get the job and the moment you finish the job,” he said.

His future projects include “Buried” and “Deadpool”.
