Chennai, Sep 10 (IANS) His latest release Tamil comedy “Varutha Padatha Valibar Sangam” (VVS) has minted Rs.11.85 crore in its opening weekend in Tamil Nadu. With this, actor Sivakarthikeyan has added a fifth hit in a row to his credit.
Siva’s earlier four Tamil hit films are “Marina”, “Manam Kothi Paravai”, “Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga” and “Ethir Neechal”. All the movies struck gold at the box office.
“VVS has turned out to be the biggest hit in his (Sivakarthikeyan) career. The film registered the biggest opening in the actor’s career so far. It has raked in a gross of Rs.11.85 crore in the opening weekend in Tamil Nadu,” trade analyst Trinath told IANS.
“Siva is just five films old, but he has turned out to be an actor of the masses. All his films so far have predominantly targeted the masses with comedy being a common genre. He has now become a sought-after actor in the industry,” he added.
Siva’s last film — Tamil romantic-comedy “Ethir Neechal” which was produced by Dhanush — reportedly minted over Rs.15 crore at the box office on an investment of approximately Rs.5 crore.
Even before the release of VVS, Siva signed another film with its director Ponram. The film is expected to go on floors soon.
He also has a Tamil fantasy-comedy “Maan Karate” in the offing.
