Ajay blames retro look for ‘Himmatwala’ failure
Actor Ajay Devgn feels that the retro look in “Himmatwala” led to its box office failure.
Sajid Khan had directed the film and Ajay said they had inkling something was not right in the film.
“Actually, we knew it earlier itself. We thought something was going wrong and I would say, (it was because) the 1980s were shown and shot like the 1980s,” Ajay said here.
“In ‘Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara!’ 1970s and 1980s were shown, but in a contemporary way. I think that (lack of contemporary feel in ‘Himmatwala’) didn’t go well,” he added.
However, when asked about backing out from the project, he said: “You can’t back out because it’s a commitment.”
Putting the failure behind him, Ajay will now be seen in an intense role in Prakash Jha’s “Satyagraha”.
