New Delhi, Oct 26 (IANS) The Woodpecker Film Festival and Forum 2013 will be held here at the India Habitat Centre Dec 19. A total of 45 films from different parts of the country have been nominated for the three-day festival.
As many as 14 films from Maharashtra, 13 from Delhi, four from Kerala, three from West Bengal, two each from Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Odisha and one entry each from Karnataka, Haryana, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have been nominated, said a statement.
“As Indian cinema proudly celebrates its 100 years, nothing could be a greater joy than to celebrate the rich culture of cinema making and the diverse topics which are being showcased,” said Kunal Verma, director Asia and country head (India) of The Resource Alliance, a company which works with non-profit organisations around the world to help them achieve their financial sustainability.
Prominent filmmakers whose films have been nominated for this year’s festival include Shekar Dattatri, Rita Banerji, Suresh Elamon and Snehasis Das.
The festival will also give youngsters a chance to show their films. As many as 15 student films have been chosen for screening.
The festival has an interesting line up of movies to watch which includes “Chilika – Jewel of Odisha”, “The Story of Coal”, “Bonding With Birds”, “The Forest Man of India” and “Breaking The Silence”.
