Toronto, June 25 (Inditop.com) Are you a morning person or a night owl? There are significant differences in the way your brain will function depending on what you are, according to the latest study.
Researchers from the University of Alberta looked at two groups of people: those who woke up early and felt the most productive in the morning and evening people, those who felt more upbeat at night.
Using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), scientists tested the excitability of pathways through the spinal cord and brain. The research revealed that the brain of early risers was most excitable at 9 a.m. In contrast, the brain of night people was most excitable at 9 p.m.
According to the scientists, these findings show that nervous-system functions are different and have implications for maximizing human performance.
These findings were published in the June issue of the Journal of Biological Rhythms.
