Chennai, July 11 (Inditop.com) Seven people who flew into the city from Singapore and the US Saturday were quarantined for exhibiting swine flu symptoms.

A family of four — a couple and their two sons aged nine and five — who flew in from Singapore had fever and cold and were taken to the Communicable Diseases Hospital (CDH) here.

Two other men on the same flight also exhibited swine flu symptoms and were taken to the same hospital.

A man who flew in from the US and was found to be suffering from cold and fever was also sent to CDH.

“Seven people in a single day is not a major sign of worry. A Large number of people from different countries land in Tamil Nadu. We have screened around 470,000 travellers for swine flu symptoms during the last two months,” V.K. Subburaj, the state health secretary, told IANS.

He said those passengers showing the flu symptoms are sent for further checks.

“Out of the 60 sent for check ups, only nine have tested positive for swine flu. The positive side is there is no local outbreak of the flu,” he added.
