New Delhi, Dec 11 (Inditop.com) The Delhi administration expects the number of swine flu cases to go down with the winters getting severe, an official said Friday as the capital reported three more deaths, taking the toll to 39.
“A 28-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man died of swine flu in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital while a 54-year-old man died at the Chetrapal Hospital Friday,” Anjana Prakash, the state’s assistant nodal officer for swine flu, told Inditop.
She said Chetrapal Hospital in Najafgarh, southwest Delhi, was not a designated health facility to treat the flu patient but hospital staff said the patient’s condition deteriorated suddenly and he could not be shifted elsewhere.
The capital reported 250 new cases of Influenza A (H1N1) Friday. With this, the total number of swine flu cases in Delhi touched 7,019.
“Of the 250 new cases on Friday, 158 were children,” Prakash said.
However, she held out hope and said: “While the number of swine flu cases rose with the dipping temperatures, as the mercury level goes further down, we are expecting the number of swine flu cases to drop too. The swine flu virus requires a favourable temperature to flourish and severe winters don’t serve that purpose.”
