Seoul, Aug 16 (Inditop.com) A 63-year-old South Korean woman died of swine flu Sunday, becoming the country’s second victim of the viral disease, the WAM news agency reported.
The victim’s internal organs stopped functioning apparently due to the H1N1 virus, health officials said.
Nine students at a girls’ high school in Daegu, some 380 km south of Seoul, were diagnosed with the influenza virus Sunday, raising the total number of patients to 2,089.
“Statistically speaking, South Korea will be no big different from other countries and the death toll could keep rising,” Lee Jong-koo, head of the Korea Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC), said at a press conference.
Another South Korean had died of swine flu Saturday.
