New Delhi, Oct 18 (Inditop.com) Two people died of swine flu in Maharashtra while one person succumbed in Uttarakhand, taking the all India toll to 408, a health ministry official said Sunday.
Maharashtra, which tops the casualty list, has reported a total of 173 deaths.
Uttarakhand has reported its third death. According to the official, the person who died Oct 14 in Uttarakhand has been confirmed to have died of H1N1.
The official said as many as 135 fresh cases of H1N1 were reported across the country on Diwali Saturday. Among the states, Kerala reported a maximum of 44 cases, followed by 24 in Maharashtra, 21 in Karnataka and 17 cases in Delhi.
However, Maharashtra continues to top the cumulative infection tally (among states) with 3,468 influenza A (H1N1) cases followed by Delhi (3,245 cases).
According to WHO, at least 4,735 people have been killed worldwide by swine flu since the viral disease was detected in April. Of all the deaths, 3,406 occurred in America.
