Georgia rockers the BLACK LIPS sparked major security fears at Britain’s Leeds music festival on Sunday (30Aug09) after they incited a mass stage invasion.

The group was playing a set at the Festival Republic tent and encouraged fans to leap the barrier and join them on stage during their rendition of hit track Juvenile.

But the prank soon spun out of control as hundreds of audience members jumped over the security fences and piled on to the packed stage to dance with the band.

Festival security teams were called to the scene and bodyguards jumped in to help the rockers, shoving fans back into the photographers’ area in front of the stage.

The group, who continued playing throughout the stage invasion, were able to finish the rest of their set without incident.
