BLINK-182 scrapped a concert in New York on Monday (31Aug09) to allow themselves time to mourn pal ADAM ‘DJ AM’ GOLDSTEIN’s death.

The trio struggled through a Connecticut show on Saturday (29Aug09) – the day after Goldstein’s body was found in his New York apartment, but decided they couldn’t go on.
In a statement released on Monday, the band, featuring the DJ’s TRV$DJAM bandmate Travis Barker, revealed they would not be performing on Monday, citing the circumstances surrounding “the unfortunate and untimely passing of our dear friend Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein” for the cancellation.

The band’s touring partners Weezer and Taking Back Sunday were expected to take the stage as scheduled.

Barker, who survived a 2008 plane crash with Goldstein, dedicated Saturday’s Blink-182 concert to his pal.

In a Twitter.com post just before he took to the stage, Barker wrote, “Don’t know how I am gonna play 2night (sic) but I am for AM… My brother is gone. I love u (sic) and miss u, I’ll never forget all the good times we had.

“He later added, “I’ll never forget everything we’ve been thru (sic) and every time I play the drums I’ll Think of you. U (sic) were an amazing friend/DJ/human being… Rest in peace my brother, this really f**ks me up.

“Bandmate Mark Hoppus struggled with a tribute onstage during the show, fighting back tears as he asked for a moment of silence for their friend, before launching into an emotional rendition of the song Down.

The frontman told fans, “We truly hope that you’re all having a good time tonight. But this night’s really hard for the three of us up here onstage and for a lot of our crew as well because we lost a really dear friend yesterday.”
