CHRIS BROWN is attempting to distance himself from comparisons to his abusive stepfather following his conviction for assaulting RIHANNA, insisting his outburst was an isolated incident.
The shamed star, 20, has been ordered to stay away from his ex-girlfriend for five years as he serves probation after pleading guilty to attacking the Umbrella hitmaker on 8 February (09).
But Brown, who has previously spoken out about witnessing his own mother Joyce Hawkins being beaten up by a former lover, insists he is nothing like his stepfather.
He tells the forthcoming issue of People magazine, “I feel like he enjoyed it. He was an abuser. It was continuous.
“Brown’s comments come just hours after excerpts from his first TV interview since the February (09) altercation were released online.
In an interview with Larry King, which will air in the U.S. on Wednesday (02Sep09), Brown admits he was shocked by his own actions and “can’t believe (the assault) actually happened”.
He adds, “I made a mistake and it was just something that I have to live up and own (sic).”
